Mr. Rooter of Pittsburgh has an "F" rating with the BBB. Surprised? I'm not.






Mr. Rooter of Pittsburgh didn't even have the decency to respond to the newest complaint submitted to the BBB:

Additional Notes

Complaint: Mr Rooter was supposed to clear a clog in the drain of our toilet. They stated they had to break the toilet to get at the clog then they had to replace the toilet, then they had to replace the water shut off valve, then they had to replace the pipe flange to fix the problem. This took 5 hours, When they left it was supposed to be fixed, The next morning after flushing the toilet the water backed up and came through the ceiling in the kitchen, soaking the plaster, the cabinets, stove, floor and cabinet contents. When Mr Rooter was called they said they would send someone out ASAP, 4 hours later the same plumbers that caused the problem returned and ran a snake down the pipe again to clear the blockage. ***** **** the plumber admitted they used the wrong parts to fix it the first time and said that it was their fault. As he was leaving he said they worked with a disaster recovery firm and he would have them contact us about repairing the damage. To date no one has contacted us even after several e-mails.

Desired Settlement: Because the original repair was not correct and caused more damage we would like the cost of the repair refunded and them to reimburse us for the damage done

BBB's Final Determination: Business failed to respond to the BBB to resolve or address the complaint issues.


MY PERSONAL OPINION

When I read other people's complaints about any Mr. Rooter location, it is pretty much like reliving the nightmare that I was involved in and witness to - wishing that something could be done to stop the unscrupulous business practices implemented by The Dwyer Group, Mr. Rooter Corporation, Mr. Rooter franchisees, and franchisees under Mr. Rooter's 6 other "sister" brands.  

I can see in the BBB complaint where Mr. Rooter of Pittsburgh employees demonstrated their incompetence at being able to resolve the issue of a clogged toilet drain as well as their inability to reset a toilet properly.  The incompetence demonstrated by Mr. Rooter of Pittsburgh employees caused unnecessary damage to the poor homeowner's property; yet, Mr. Rooter has turned their back on the homeowner because they have no intention of loosing any money (whether it was their mistake or not) and, of course, are too busy lying to other unsuspecting consumers seeking a "professional" assessment and resolution to plumbing issues.

THEY TOOK THIS HOMEOWNER'S MONEY, NEVER FIXED THE PROBLEM, DESTROYED THE PROPERTY, AND HAVE REFUSED TO MAKE IT RIGHT! 

What disturbs me most about this BBB complaint is that the Mr. Rooter of Pittsburgh employees screwed up and then told the homeowner that they worked with a disaster recovery firm and that they would have them contact the homeowner about repairing the damage.  Countywide Plumbing and Restoration (http://www.bbb.org/pittsburgh/Business-Reviews/plumbers/countywide-plumbing-and-restoration-in-cranberry-twp-pa-71005952) is the "disaster recover firm" owned by the same person who also owns Mr. Rooter of Pittsburgh/Youngstown/Dayton with the same employees that already damaged the home.  Can we say...Bait and Switch Scam?  It sure looks like it to me.  Another name they could be going under is another Dwyer Group Brand - Rainbow International  (http://www.bbb.org/pittsburgh/business-reviews/building-restoration-and-preservation/rainbow-international-in-cranberry-twp-pa-57000264).

THE ONLY WAY TO STOP THEM FROM TAKING ADVANTAGE OF CONSUMERS IS TO STOP THEIR INCOME STREAM BY NOT CALLING THEM - BY BOYCOTTING THEM!  THEY WILL EITHER IMPROVE THEIR BUSINESS PRACTICES OR SINK! 

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!

*UPDATE*  It looks like they could be at least responding to the BBB complaint listed above according to the BBB website.  I hope that this poor consumer, unlike my Mother and many others out there, gets fair compensation for the damage that they caused.

Also owned by the same individual who owns the Mr. Rooter of Pittsburgh franchise, Mr. Rooter of Youngstown has an "F" rating with the BBB.  Mr. Rooter of Youngstown has not bothered to respond to 4 complaints submitted to the BBB.  4!!!!  Mr. Beall's claims of being dedicated to delivering World Class Customer Service appear, at least to me,  to be a misleading statement directed to consumers.  This behavior is unethical and should be brought to the public's attention so that they can take steps to protect themselves.

Recently, this website refers to this owner's businesses above:  http://www.plumbing-pittsburgh.com - an umbrella for all of the areas that he has declared to be officially serving; however, I recall them serving Ohio before they had officially bought the area.  


Technically, there have been several different websites they have used to switch things up and get search engines to bury the truth about their unethical business practices which have been reported by myself, other consumers, and even their former employees:  False Advertising; Breach of Contract, Shoddy Workmanship; and Nearly Non-Existent Customer Service.
